It is a fact verifiable at National Bureau of Statistics that as at 2010 over 60% of Nigerians are living in Absolute Poverty. This means they can't afford the basic necessities of life like Food, shelter, medicare, etc. This is not just about Nigeria, the world economy is dwindling. True or false? Well, I have a different opinion but I wont dig into that now, maybe later in this post or some other day. So, adding "in Nigeria" to the end of this post title is just for adding sake. Most nations of the world are in same boat as Nigeria.
In my opinion, the issue is not that means shrink but that needs expand.
My dad had a 14" Black/White TV and all we could watch was NTA. We didn't have VCR, neither did we have Recorder (the once popular music player). Dad's little income was somewhat enough for the family though Mum had to support with whatever she could make from her petty business. The bottom line is that there were no signs of financial tension in the family.
Fast forward to 2017, my earnings should be like 800% higher than what my dad was earning about twenty year ago but I seem to be in need of more money to keep up with need in my budding home. Why is that? You'd be tempted to blame inflation but in reality, the inflation played a minor role in this as not much products or services have doubled in price on the last twenty years.
Shift your gaze!
If my needs were exactly same as my dad's twenty years ago, I most likely will never feel the need for more money. Imagine how fat my bank account would be if life is still just about NTA and not Cable TV subscription, ceiling fan and not Air Conditioner, NITEL phone booth and not Samsung Galaxy S9+ phone, NIPOST mail and not Data subscription for email, Sandal and not Sneakers, when nail-cutter was nail-cutting and not pedicure, when computers were for businesses and not for personal usse, when schools are government-owned and nothing like costly private schools for kids, when cars don't need to come with AC or GPS, when wives don't need MaryKay to look good, when Italian shoes were for Italians and have no business in our market spaces, when Vaseline Lux soap had no competition, etc...
Hear the truth...
Limitless list of things we need and want just keep struggling for the limited income and when that happens, you can either cut your expenses to match the stone age lifestyle or double your income. It is not always about the government, we blame the economy forgetting that we steer the course of the economy. Technology keep advancing and it never left anything the same. It altered out wants, opened up places that we never knew existed, gave us the ability to connect with people in the uttermost part of the world.
More Needs. More Financial Tension.
There are various means of earning more money without breaking any rules. It is more than you can imagine, even online. You can work part-time online, from the comfort of your cozy bed. It doesn't have to be a brick and mortar job that makes you non-existent from 8-5 daily. So many unplanned expenses distorting your budget. You have miscellaneous expenses, it is only wise to have miscellaneous income. Get a passive job to earn some passive income.
