My Beloved-First-Owned Laptop, Compaq CQ56

It was one of my biggest achievements. Buying a brand new laptop and a brand new USB Modem to access the internet in 2010 was a dream come true. This is more than just wanting to belong to a class of the big boys that own a laptop, I've always loved handling anything tech, its like a toy and yes I am still addicted to them. I loved and still love to browse the internet even when back then I have nothing really reasonable to do online, I'd go to the cyber café and burn out my pockets returning home broke yet feeling fulfilled doing nothing online.

I did my price hunt and knew what the price was before going to the market that beautiful Saturday. I went with my sister (against my wish but she insisted to be my escort) to buy my brand new Compaq Presario CQ56 at N80,000 but I never told her what the worth was until I was to pay because I knew she would discourage me believing I could do some other useful things with that much money. We were both right, she asked me not to try buying it as I presumed and she said "Tayo, you have about N35,000 outstanding school fees"
(Yes, I was running my HND program then and haven't fully paid my school fees). From there I went to Etisalat office to buy USB internet Modem, another N10,000 then I did data sub of 500MB at N3,000.

I couldn't wait for NEPA to restore light, I fueled the generator to charge the laptop. I also couldn't wait for it to charge for 4 hours as advised by the seller as every second is like a year so I launched the laptop after about 2 hours of charge. I swear, I was the most beautiful thing I've done for myself. I vividly remember the red colour displayed as it comes on, even the sound. Then I went online, doing ask me which site because I can't remember as it's not important. I browsed serially and in about 3 hours, the sites stopped loading and I felt it was a network issue but after trying over and again without success, I called the Etisalat Call Centre and the agent told me "Sorry, you've exhausted your 500MB, you need more data to browse". N3,000 gone! Yes, my salary can't afford that so I had to devise a cheaper means. Night data plans, free browsing tweaks, etc but the breakthrough came when I realised my activities online could fund my data expenses.

I tried many plentious stuffs that failed which I can't start listing here, I lost some money in the process but not more than I could easily let go. Those are the days of MLM using Liberty Reserve to sign up, LB is still owing some dollars. I was a wiz to my contemporaries as the source of those ideas are very strange to them. I totally agree, those ideas are strange, very strange but I think curiosity is the fuel burning the passion that leads to discovery.

Last year I sold my beloved Compaq Presario CQ56. It was a tough decision but I had to let go as age is not on its side and tech innovations would not let it be continually attractive efficient.
Yes, that Compaq brought the world closer to me than ever. Earning online became more real to me and I've grown in leaps and bounds in Netpreneurship. I've met people online that have seriously impacted on me financially, morally, spiritually, socially, technically. Online social friends have emerged as business partners, what more can I say?

The internet is a goldmine. Let me paraphrase it thus: There's Wealth on the internet. I liken it to a Banquet, whatsoever you want is available online be it business or fun, friendship or love, tutorship or learning, fraud or genuine business, just everything...

What are you doing online? Is it really worth it? Are your time online adding value to you or others?
For me, The Web is my market and this blog is just one of the shops I own. Yes, its pays my bills. I no longer worry about how much data I burn because no matter how much, any of my online businesses can fund it.

So, if you're burning data without income from it like I used to do, it's high time you have a rethink unless you're in the learner's stage that I was before. If you're not thinking of online income and you spend hours online daily... I'm looking for the right adjective to qualify you.

I blog
I do network marketing
I invest in cryptocurrencies... and these pay my bills.
What do you do online?
